Hello there, Yesterday I replaced the screen on my partner’s iPhone7 (1660 - Verizon). It was not the first time I had replaced an iPhone screen, in fact I believe it is the third, so I am comfortable with doing so and also very careful. In the previous replacements I had done the screens look exactly alike the replacement, but the now I tried replacing yesterday is a little different. In the back (the side that goes into the phone) of the screen there are the cables that connect to the phone. Said cables are attached to a bigger black peace which I am guessing is all chips/wiring. The black portion has a little silver block which says, “OC.” and below, “N4.” https://ibb.co/GH9rXPJ That little silver block does not properly fit when put into the assembly of the phone. I already checked and I did order the correct one, so unless I was went the wrong one, I am not sure what to do. Also, it can certainly be forced in there but first of all, is a screen, is delicate so I don’t want to do that. Also, if you do so, the display will have a pressure point visible at all times right on that spot. ——— Lastly and even more confusing, I used the same home button as the parts did not include a new one, all good. However, after installing it and turning the phone on it displayed that the home button was not active or something along the lines. I tried reconnecting the home button to the screen conector, did not help. I tried doing some troubleshooting I read online like disconnecting the camera and sensor and then trying it again, did not help. I then thought that MAYBE, just MAYBE, I had broken the home button, so I decided to put the broken screen back and try the HB again, it did work, no issue at all. ——— So basically, is my screen replacement just not working properly? What should I do in this case? I went over the return policy and it is for 15days, which has already passed as due to some personal health issues, I did not have a chance to do the replacement sooner. I also tried calling iFixit but they never answer. Thank you for your attention and assistance.

It’s very possible that the the components on the screen itself were not manufactured properly. The components would be under that silver shield, so it’s possible one of them is slightly out of place and not allowing the shield to sit properly, resulting in the screen not fitting properly.
