Today I attempted to replace a screen on an iPhone 7, but the replacement didn’t appear to be functional so I moved the touch ID and sensors/camera back to the original screen. Now the phone still powers on (can see it in iTunes), but neither screen turns on. I’ve tried updating the phone but that has yielded nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Did you disconnect the battery prior to disconnecting the screen? This is a common oversight and it can cause the backlight circuit to blow. This would match the symptoms you are currently seeing. This requires a micro-soldering repair and is not DIY.
