I replaced the digitizer on my ipad mini and now if you pick up the unit or move it in anyway the screen will jump all over the place. it is like the digitizer has a short in it. i bought the digitizer with the c-1 connector already soldered in. this is the second digitizer i have tried. both are doing the same thing. please help me!!!!!!! thanks.
This is really wired! I would go and double check your connections. Also make sure that none of the wires or ribbons are pinched. This can cause all sorts of crazy things.
I had this problem and used electrician’s tape to tape of the exposed metal around the bottom and it solved the problem. I theorized it was shorting when metal touched metal. But I’ve also read that magnets can cause this if they get to close to the digitizer so if you put the rare earth magnets back onto the glass’ underside, make sure they are away from the digitizer itself. Yes as the guy above said just put electrical tape were the soldering of the home button is and that will fix the issue
I have fixed a lot of iPad minis and everyone here is right. You need to make sure those areas are taped, which it looks like you have. However, let me tell you a place to tape off that you might miss. I was working on an iPad mini once and long story short I couldnt get any digitizers to work with it. They all had ghost touching etc. I finally disconnected the digitizer for the 100th time and looked on the back of the connector that connects to the motherboard. There are what looks like 20 plus solder points. Make sure that this part has kapton tape or some type of tape on the bottom of it. If it does not, the back side will ground out on the inside of the iPad mini. There is usually an adhesive pad in this area from the factory, but it can get pulled off when removing the original broken digitizer.
I have a similar problem.It happens after a while that ipad is on, not right away.
@lee white hi,i was working on an iapd mini there 5 minutes ago.had the same issue i would suggest you to do the tapes again ,basically i covered the whole bottom border except for the home button and that worked for me .so maybe give it another go .good luck .
if you are using extra double sided tape beside of screen adhesive don’t use
