I dropped my ipad air 2, and the screen isnt cracked but the display when turned on has black “bars?” on the left side

. Do I have to replace the whole screen or just the digitizer?

you need to replace the lcd screen, perhaps you can do some test on all the spot if the digitizer is able to respond. if so, just get the lcd panel replace first.
