So I bought this laptop in November of 2015 I barely used it in highschool and only bought it to flex I would use it only a couple of times going into college I started to use it more often but I took real good care of it never dropped it never spilled anything on it I babied this laptop 2 days ago I came home from a Christmas Eve party opened my laptop only to see that the screen wasn’t working like if someone had dropped but it wasn’t dropped it was on my counter as usual and the screen kept bugging like if something was damaged internally part of the screen is black and the rest is really dim like if the brightness is down but the brightness is all the way up and sometimes the screen will start to glitch and lag I want to know what it is I’m so mad that I dropped 1,200 plus tax now I gotta probably pay 500 or more especially since Apple warranty already expired 4 years ago the new lcd cost more than a new transmission for my Kia so I need help on what I can do or know what issues I am having
If you’re “lucky” the problem might be caused by the screen cable. Usually a replacement screen would be the best to check and make sure the problem is the screen indeed. You can try replacing the EDP cable for your screen after disconnecting the screen assembly and hope for the best. It’s not such a straightforward repair and it’s not intended to be a user replacement, but it can be done with some tools and lots of care. This is the screen replacement guide to drive you in the first part of the repair attempt, you can find videos on youtube to help you with cable.
