Upon start, screen stays very dark. I can barely see the login screen, and can’t read any icons. Tried using the bright key, tried replacing inverter and cable. No improvement. Any advice?
Sounds like a failed inverter to me. Please give us the last three figures of your serial number (found in the battery compartment).
The CFL’s are likely going. Try lowering the brightness to the lowest setting then hit it once going up did it brighten up for a sec, or did it do nothing? If nothing happened the CFL’s are gone in the LCD panel.
