Chosen Solution
The screen is lit (it’s not black) but shows no data (i.e. the desktop). If I hook it up to a TV I can see the desktop there and it works fine. Would this be a Display Data Cable issue? Also the right hinge (where the cable goes in) has been broken for some time. I took it apart and there is no obvious problem with the cable.
Very probably a data cable issue. Small wires can break from fatigue and be unnoticeable to the eye. If you give me more info about which model you have, I can point you towards the right cable on our site.
