About 3/4 of my screen is going dark, I can still see the picture behind it but it has a dark shadow. I have a Sanyo fvd4064 40”
Sounds like the backlight is going out. I doubt there are many answers to give you that would be a cost effective repair as LCD’s have gotten really cheap, especially around the 40” range. I would probably go buy a decent TCL Roku TV. They are cheap and perform well.
