After 1.5 years back i’ve damaged cord from the screen to monitor while installing SSD this issue suddenly happens to me. Any ideas what this could be and how to fix it? Video and picture attached.

Update (04/02/2019) I’ve used tools from Ifixit. But didn’t brought new stretch to keep monitor in safe and that it dropped, glad I’m able to catch it. strange since it last 1,5 years after that accident. Will try to replace cable first. Thanks!

First things first. Check that you properly inserted the display cable. Even if you did check again. If in fact you did damage the Display Data cable then you should not power on your iMac any longer because you could be sending voltage to places it’s not suppossed to go. Luckily the guys here @ifixit.com can get you a replacement and show you how to do it too. iMac Intel 27" EMC 2546 & 2639 Display Data Cable iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 Display Replacement In my experience what you’ve shown in the pics looks more like a display issue instead of a cable but I’d first replace the cable! Happy fixing!

I fear you damaged the display when you took it off. This can happen if you don’t use the correct tools and/or force things. You need to use iMac Opening Wheel to slice through the adhesive and you need to use Plastic Cards (two sets) to help isolate the display from the frame and following this guide iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 Display Replacement At this point you’ll need a new display unit [linked product missing or disabled: IF174-035-1]

@dennieo were you able to fix it after changing the display data cable?
