My MBP 15’’, A1206 model, just got a black screen after it fell asleep, then it will never wake up. I pressed the power button and closed it. Then I tried to restart. The interesting thing is I can hear the boot sound, brightness adjustment sound etc. I think the system is on. But Screen is complete black, I can’t see anything.
Apple MacBook Pro “Core 2 Duo” 2.4 15" (SR) Specs Identifiers: Mid/Late 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz* - MA896LL - MacBookPro3,1 - A1226 - 2136 My best guess on this is the Nvidia GPU processor issue. Most of the time this involves scrambled colors on the screen but also no screen. Contact Apple, they will most likely replace your logic board for free, they also pay for all shipping, it takes about four days total. Here’s the Apple site on it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377 Also see www.nvidiasettlement.com
Make sure everything is detached… Like USB ports and the like. Same thing happened to me and weirdly enough I had to pull out my headphones from the headphone jack and the screen came back!
