Could this be a bios setting or has the lcd monitor gone , have heard this is a common problem.
Hi guys, Here the the thing. I repaired about 50 of them dv9000, dv6000 and dv2000. These series have all the video problem one day or another. The nvidia chipset is the cause and i fixed most of them succesfully. Here how. Unmount the unit and blast the nvidia chipset with a pen torch for about 20 sec at 1`` of surface. it will resold the chipset right in place and give you back display. the only thing is to add GREAT thermal paste to avoid the problem to come back. Otherwise expect fixing and fixing over and over until it wont turn back on.(also you can add a penny. yes! a penny with thermal past rith on top of the chipset) beleive me it works. the penny is made with copper and its a excellent heat conductor. I have the exact same model (dv9000) and had the exact same problem as in, the unit would power on however no display was visible in the LCD. After A LOT of troubleshooting that involved taking the unit apart, I found that the inverter board in the LCD needed to be replaced. I bought an inverter board compatible with my model on eBay for about $10.00. Took the LCD apart and replaced the inverter board. Put it back together, turned the unit on and PRESTO!!
