Since the upgrade to 9.0.2 , every time you open an application screen goes black , I must close and reopen immediately to use . I have a iPhone6
I would try closing all your apps and then hold the power & home button at the same time till the device shuts off and reboots.
I have the same problem with my 5s

I turned off background app refresh in the settings and that seemed to help
