I have a HP laptop. When the cover is half opened, the screen stays ok. When I open it so I actually work with it, it flickers, turns complete white or black. When pressing at the bottom of the screen, just above the logo, or when pressing the bezel at the bottom the screen is OK. What could be the issue, how can ifixit? Could it be an grounding issue? There is a aluminium foil on the backcover, the screen is on top of some black foam. Should it make a electral contact? Please advise http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-br…
Niels, this most certainly sounds like a bad (shorted) LVDS cable. Get the service manual from here. The replacement display cable is readily available ● 656805-001 — For use only with computer models equipped with a FHD display assembly ● 644362-001 — For use only with computer models in dark umber and steel gray finish ● 640423-001 — For use only with computer models in butter gold, espresso black, linen white, Pacific blue, pearl pink, ruby red, and Sonoma red finish It’s not a terribly complicated job. Hope this helps, good luck.
Well that sounds like your having problems with the cable that connects the display to the mainboard, if your laptop is out of warranty then try to check the cable for rips or bends .
Was there Any solution on this yet?? I have an issue with mine, that if you open it to a normal position, it won’t turn on. But if I open it a quarter, the screen works fine.
