So my screen wasn’t working so I was using an external monitor which was a pain. I replaced the entire screen and hooked everything up. Once hooked up, screen was black. Shined a flashlight behind and there is no backlight. I could see what was supposed to be on the screen. However, external monitor doesn’t work now. Replaced with old screen and external monitor still doesn’t work. Anyone have any suggestions?

With the informations supplied I can imagine the earphones might have caused a short in the backlight circuit of the screen assembly and that went all the way to the connector and possibly to the logic board. Shorts inside the Lvds connector can be quite tricky, since pins are separated by just a thin plastic. If you are sure the new screen assembly was working and you performed the replacement carefully, the screen connector on the board might be the culprit and might have caused further shorts along the image data lines when you worked on it. It’s pure speculation, since not much can be said without proper testing. Try checking the connector inside out with good light and magnification..you might find some hints.
