Hi guys, I have a MacBook Pro 15” Mid 2012. From about 6 months ago, it blacked out now and then. now it went totally black. I tried adapting it to a monitor, still no good. the the system is working normally. I can hear the sound when the system is on (bootcamp windows 10). The keyboard backlight is working too. So, can someone please help analyzing what part is broken, the GPU chip or the cable connect the board and screen? Thanks so much in advance! David
If it was just the screen LVDS cable or the LCD panel you’d be able to see the image with the external screen and adapter. External image is driven by the discrete GPU, thus unfortunately that answers your question with the worst possible diagnosis, fried GPU IC.
Have you tried SMC and/or PRAM/NVRAM resets? If not, I suggest trying those resets. How to reset the SMC, PRAM and NVRAM on a Mac Laptop
