My mac book recently was damaged from unknown causes but has a cracked monitor that looks like a spider web and some dent on the bottom of the computer in the area right above the battery, for a while i was able to run the computer using an external monitor but now when i attempt to start up the computer i can hear the devices in side make that normal sound that they usually make but no boom noise and i can no longer get any images on my external monitor? i know the monitor will need replacing but what would cause the images to stop appearing when i hook up to an external monitor? thanks
Try to do a PMU reset. To do so, disconnect the computer from the wall, take off the battery then push on the power button for 5 to 10 seconds then reinstall the battery, connect the ac adapter and try to start the machine.
The area right above the battery holds the RAM. Take the battery out, take the three screws that hold the RAM cover down. Ground yourself out so you don’t zap the RAM take it out and then reseat it.
