Not able to use my ADF scanner. Does not feed nor does the light come on indicating anything in feeder. Wondering if the sensor is the issue, but not able to find. I do not have a jam, or paper stuck. Very clean. Any help would be grateful.

Hi Kath, Try the following:

  1. go to Menu >settings scroll down to “Restore Default Settings”
  2. press Ok, select restore all but WiFi and Fax Settings, press Ok If that doesn’t work, using the following picture as a guide, I am not sure as I’m not familiar with your particular model but if you look into the paper feeder (#2 in the picture) you may be able to see the sensors in there. In my printer they are spring loaded switches that are pushed up when the paper is inserted.

Hopefully this is of some help.

I have puzzled over this issue for awhile trying all the above. And then I took a pen and gently inserted it into the small rectangular access hole with the little white “arm” in it. Move it forward a bit until you see and hear it pop undone. This little arm engages the white drive gear an inch or so in front of it which in turn drives the paper roller shafts built into the top door of the ADF. Good luck!

This photo refers to the ADF fix added by @artfullservent 1/29/2019 Hopefully this gives a little better context of how to find the part that needs to be shifted to get ADF “back in gear”. Pictured printer is Epson WF-3640 with ADF lid open. I suspect this pops loose when scanning thick paper media that overloads the mechanism or something similar and apparently is common to multiple models of WF range epson ink jet printers. Thanks for the suggestion Brian!
