My Samsung UN50H5203AF would not power on one day. There were no storms or any obvious power surges that I was aware of. The red standby light is on when the power chord is plugged in, and my computer registers the tv as a separate monitor, but whenever I try turning the TV on, the standby light turns off, my pc doesn’t detect the TV, and after 4 seconds the Tv returns to standby mode. No screen action, such as a logo or even back lights activating, happen. I have tried the normal fixes such as leaving the power disconnected, getting rid of residual power, then restarting the TV, but nothing changes. It feels as if it shorts itself whenever the power demand increases but I don’t know what part of the power supply board would be responsible for that. Any help would be appreciated
Hi, Not sure if the following will work for your model but it won’t hurt to try it as long as you’re careful. Disconnect the power to the TV and then remove the back cover from the TV. Disconnect the mainboard - power board cable at the power board end. Reconnect the power to the TV. The TV screen backlights should turn on and stay on. If they don’t stay on then there is a problem with the power board or the LED backlights or both. If they stay on, then measure the voltages on the power board connector where the mainboard cable was connected to before you disconnected it. The voltage values are printed on the power board usually close to the connector. If the voltage values are as specified then most likely there is a problem with the mainboard. Be safety aware when testing for the voltages on the power board. Even though you’re testing for low DC voltages there is exposed lethal AC voltage close to where you are testing. Disconnect the power to the TV if not actually testing for voltages or observing what is happening
