Chosen Solution

Hi, I would appreciate any advice regarding faulty Samsung TV UE49KU6400UXXU. We have it for 2 years now and before few days dark vertical shadow started appearing on the screen. If TV is cold and you just turned it on you barely can see it, but if TV is on for about 5-10 min. the shadow becomes highly visible. Not sure if it is coincidence, but after shadow becomes visable TV’s back at almost same place as shadow becomes warm. You will find several pictures attached with test photos in which the shadow is highly visible. Any ideas what may cause this issue? Quite strange as shadow is vertical. If it woud be horizontal I would guess it can be faulty baklight strip, but as it is vertical it would be strange that all backlights on all strips in one vertical line became faulty. I would guess that T-Con board became faulty, but not sure if such issue may relate on it. Already tried to remove all cables, picture tests, reseting the settings, but no success. Any suggestions, ideas are welcome.

@kuzavas that looks like failed LED’s on the edge backlight strips. Sometimes a bad power board can cause this as well by not providing the needed voltage to the strips. In this case it looks less likely to be the case.

Powerboard is NOT the issue here, only a ledstrip. To replace this, you need to dissasemble the television fully to get to the strips. You can replace a strip where the defect led’s are on it, or replace the led’s themself, but you need to know what your doing. It takes some skills. I have done this many times.. Good luch..

I believe it to be the diffuser sheet. Melted, needs replaced , Samsung no longer do the parts.

Two dark shadows

Hi everyone!

Our TV has the same black shadow as I have seen from your pictures. We have a UE49KU6475U purchased in 2016, so it still has a few years left. Otherwise, it actually works really well. When I press a little on the frame down there by the samsung logs, it temporarily disappears. Samsung Support responded quickly but sending out a tech will cost more than buying a new one I would guess. Looking to fix the problem myself. welcomes suggestions and tips. Wishing you a nice day here from Sweden
