Samsung UN46ES6150FXZA, date of manufacture April 2012, will not power on. Standby LED double flashes 5 times. Found lots of stories about this problem and studied them. My TV has Power Board: PD 46A1-CSM, BN44-00502A, 2012.01.04, Rev. 1.1. Capacitors looked OK. Checked diodes with Fluke DMM. Found shorted diode DQ851 (near connector and S/N label). Power cord near S/N label goes to LED array. Didn’t open the LED panel yet. Questions: Could Power BD failure (shorted diode DQ851) cause the LED’s failure?                     Or failed LED’s caused bad DQ851?                     Should I replace the whole Power BD or DQ851 only?                     Need schematic print for PBD. Any idea where it can be obtained?                     Should I check LED’s and make sure they are OK before fixing PBD?                     Do you know the cost of the Power BD? Please advise. Thank you, Andrey

@andreyolek that’s a fully loaded question. Let’s see if we can answer all of these :->  Could Power BD failure (shorted diode DQ851) cause the LED’s failure? No. A failed diode would not close the circuitry and your LED’s would not fail from it. Or failed LED’s caused bad DQ851? Unlikely but hard to say without schematic. Bad LED backlight array can cause power board issue by pulling to high a voltage etc. but there should be more issues that a single diode. Should I replace the whole Power BD or DQ851 only? Without the schematic I would replace the colete board. Keep in mind that this board has issues with the backlight controller IC9101 which could be the issue on here as well. Need schematic print for PBD. Any idea where it can be obtained?  Should I check LED’s and make sure they are OK before fixing PBD? I have not come across the schematic for that so you may have to do some really deep online digging by using the BN number (or the KTL SU10444-12005 for a more global search) . Fix or replace the board first unless you have a LED backlight tester available. Or you could try Forced Backlight-On Mode: 1.Disconnect Power Cord 2.Disconnect wire harness from CN201 3.Re-Connect Power Cord 4.LED Backlight should immediately turn on NOTE: If LED backlight fails to come on, place a jumper wire between Pin 2 and Pin 4 and try again Do you know the cost of the Power BD? $60-$100 USD depending on where you are located and where you are getting it from. Again, do a good online search using the BN number alone.
