So I have a Samsung RR82EBSW fridge that has recently began acting as if someone is pressing the alarm button on and off. When the button is pressed, it makes a sound (sound for on/off is slightly different). So now it’s making this sound whenever it thinks the button is being pressed. It does this randomly. It started off doing it a few times. Now it seems to be doing it a lot more frequently. I’ve also noticed that when I press on the alarm button on the fridge’s display, it barely responds any more. I can’t find much information about this fridge online any more and there’s no disassembly instructions. It’s unfortunately out of warranty, otherwise I’d just go with that route and not bother trying to look at it. My current thinking is I need to somehow get the fridge display removed to look inside. There’s probably some PCB/connectors that I could take a look at. I’m just not sure how to get to them. I don’t want to break the fridge since it still works apart from the irritating alarm button on/off sound. I don’t think I’ll be able to get parts for this online, so my goal right now is to hopefully find a way to silence it. Whether that be turning off the sound or disconnecting whatever connector controls the alarm button. Here’s a screenshot of what the display looks like: https://i.imgur.com/nCKD1ut.png Does anyone know how that might be safely removed? I can see a gap at the bottom of the display. Would it be correct to assume that I could simply put a flathead screwdriver there and pry? Just want to make sure so I don’t break it. Update (05/04/2022) Got the display out and had a quick look. The button itself seems fine. It’s not stuck or anything like that. I can’t see anything visually wrong with it. I am not sure why it keeps thinking the alarm button is being pressed then.

Ended up desoldering the alarm button and that has seemingly solved the problem. I also found that the other buttons weren’t working when the alarm button kept thinking it was being pressed. After desoldering the alarm button, the other buttons now work fine. I can’t seem to find another identical button switch, so it looks like I’ll just have to settle for no alarm function.
