Hi everybody! I know that it has been already asked before, but I still find very different opinions about the topic. I have a MB Pro - Early 2011 with Sierra 10.12.6. 13”, 2,3 Ghz Intel Core i5, 8Gb Ram. Months ago I have bought a Samsung EVO 250GB and installed it. It worked great for six months, then it stopped working and I could not restart my laptop. So I have reinstalled the old HDD and it worked fine for about two months, then it stopped working too. So I have changed the Sata Cable with the original one for MB Pro - Early 2011 and reinstalled the HDD. It is fine but slow. I have read that the main problem is that my cable is SATA II ,while Samsung Evo 850 is SATA III, and they are incompatible. Therefore I am afraid that if I mount again my EVo 850 it will burn again my cable. Is there no other way to have a working and durable SSD on my laptop or to use my Samsung Evo 850?

Use the cable from the 2012 model. It works much better with the faster drives. MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable
