The screen is ruined and taken out. Can I use an external monitor ?

You will need to leave the internal display mounted and connected as the systems SMC logic is dependent on the sensors held within it. As far as using an external display that is possible! You’ll need an adapter depending on what the display offers. As an example: HDMI to miniDP, or VGA to miniDP.
