Another dumbster kicks in. I just replaced Apple’s massive load of thermal paste with new one on my retina macbook pro 13", 2013 late(A1502). It does charge–I believe, at least the green light turns on– but does not even POST. It doesn’t chime nor starts the fan. If I let the magsafe connected with the intetnal power connector unplugged, the light goes amber and turns green if I try SMC reset–so the keyboard is not dead. Tried shorting 5th and 6th pins of the keyboard connector–does not work either. Where could I have killed? Could it be the remnant of alcohol inside the tape around the CPU or the canned air that I sprayed on it? Is there no hope but to replace the entire logic board?
You’ll need to open the system up and check to see if any of the old and/or new paste got beyond the chips base
You’ll need to carefully clean it all off, as many TIM’s are conductive or have a capacitance!
