Hi, I have ripped off the fan connector on my Macbook Air. Unfortunately, I have managed to remove one of the pads on the PCB. Can anybody tell me if this pad is required, and where I would connect a piece of wire to to make it work again. Many thanks in advance, and apologies for the poor quality photos.
Rosalie that is pin 1 and is your 5V DC for the fan. Yes, you do need that pad. You can always try to solder a jumper to that (sorry hard to see on your image how bad the solder pad is damaged). I’d run a jumper from the trace to the connector. You do need to solder the connector properly back on. You can not use glue etc.
