I recently poured coke (the liquid kind) all over my Late 2012 Macbook Pro Retina, which caused half the keys to stop working. I’ve now bought a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro Unibody (i7 and all that). Only thing is, it doesn’t have an SSD, so I’m wondering if I can simply switch over my old SSD from the Retina to the new machine, or if I would have compatibility issues?
Yes, you can remove the SSD from your wet 13" MacBook retina system and place it into this case: OWC Envoy Pro so you can transfer your files over.
You can not. The drive in your replacement device is a 2.5 inch sata and the retina was flash storage.
Maybe I’m a bit late - but I think this is what you’re looking for: http://www.microsatacables.com/macbook-p… Lets you use the “blade SSD” from the Retina Macbook Pro in a machine that uses standard 2.5" SATA drives.
