My old PS4 will not power on so I got a new one. Is there a way to retrieve my saved files from the old hard drive.

Unfortunately, no, it isn’t possible at all. There are only a few ways to approach the data, and none of those options is viable:

  • connecting the old drive to a computer won’t work, it’s in a format unreadable by anything else than a ps4
  • putting the drive in your new ps4 won’t work either. The ps4 will see it as a foreign disk, and format it
  • attaching the drive via sub to the new ps4: no luck there either, it will only read official made backups that way. So unless you made a backup of your saves to an external drive or to the ps cloud, I’m afraid you’re out of luck.

If the bricking isn’t caused by a hard drive fault or corruption, You can try removing the hard drive, and plugging it directly into your computer using a SATA to USB cable. Depending on its formatting, you should be able to then see the files and move them just like you would the files on the computer.
