Chosen Solution
Hi, I am looking to replace the rubber seal that encloses the display and that also serves as a jamb when the lid is closed. asking in authorised retailers and Apple itself i have got the same answer: “you will have to buy the entire display replacement”. Well it turns out that is not in my budget range. My question: Does iFixit has a alternative solution? As in a non apple rubber i could apply to my screen? I’m guessing that replacing the rubber will involve some considerable work and skills in order not to damage the existing setup, so any heads up about the assembly will be welcomed. Thanks for reading, Rui
Keep in mind you likely face a 50/50 chance of repairing the display Vs breaking it! So… If money is tight I wouldn’t even start this project! Also consider your need of the system, lets say you break the display it might take a couple of weeks to get a replacement display assembly! So what would I do?? I would wait until you have the needed part in your hands so you have a plan-B solution before attempting this. I would also take the time to study this MacBook Pro Retina Display Teardown Here’s one of the few parts houses that even have it! 13” MacBook Pro Lid Rubber Gasket (15) recycled.
