Chosen Solution

Hello, So I just bought a used Marshall Kilburn Bluetooth Speaker without the battery, thinking I could easily replace it on my own…little did I realize that its not that easy. Turns out Marshall doesn’t even offer a repayment battery for a product they have had out for 2 yrs now. Anyhow my next idea was to find an after market one and modify it as needed, that to is a little beyond my skill level. Here are a few facts about the battery, if there is anyone that could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Marshall Kilburn Bluetooth speaker Battery: 4x 3.7V LI-IO Batteries with a mAH rating of 2200mAh. Here is a link to a photo of the battery along with some photos of a replacement this guy put together: http://fr.audiofanzine.com/enceinte-mult… Here is a Battery I think could fit the bill how ever its a 2 wire vs. the 4 wire configuration of the current one. http://www.all-battery.com/li-ion1865014… Thx Scott

Ok this is finally the solution I found and have tried with great success: 1- I bought this battery: http://www.all-battery.com/14.8V-2600mAh… 2- Then I bought this 4 wire connector: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-25mm-Micro-4-Pi… Pretty simple hack, I basicly just connected the red wire to the applicable 2 wires on the connecter then did the same with the Black wire, make sure to take a look at one of the photos in this thread to ensure you get the wires right. Rest assured it works great, I have had it in for about 3 weeks now without an issue, it charges well, holds the charge and does not get hot at all when charging or powering. FYI, there are higher capacity or mAh options that fit into the Kilburn, but to be safe just stick with this 2600mAH option, it works great and is the manufacturer’s chosen option.

Scott Lauder what you have here is a battery pack. It has been build for your equipment and the PCB on top of the battery will be part of your circuitry etc. I am convinced that you will be better off to rebuild the battery and reuse the battery PCB. Looks like there are 4 TF18650 2200mAH LiPO’s connected in series to give you the proper voltage. If you cut away on the black package you could see how they are connected and reuse the PCB. Of course you can also get the battery you outlined in your original question and use that to rebuild/build your battery pack. Use the cells from that one and attach your PCB to it the way it was on the old pack. Just get some heatshrink or insulation tape after to keep the cells tightly together.

Hey Folks, After opening up the Kilburn Speaker it appears that their 4 wire configuration eventually comes together as a 2wire configuration deeper in the speaker, so basicly the 2 red wires come together and the 2 black come together. Bottom line it looks to be to be a case of deliberately designing it to ensure that after market will be difficult for the consumer to obtain, then creating a dependence on marshall for the replacement part…which by the way they do not offer yet…despite the Kilburn being on the market since 2015. Deliberately manufacturing product obsolescence is a $@$*!& thing to do. Anyhow, I’m going to replace the current 4 wire female connector inside the box to a 2 wire and then just pick up this battery, If anyone tries it first, let me know how it goes, and if I get to it first I’ll post the results! Good Luck SL

Found the Battery, Finally!! You’ll have to traslate the site, but here it is… http://www.86mall.com/item/544224384562….

Hi, here is a battery that I successfully used in my Kilburn and it works great: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-Light-Batter… Only about $19.00 from Ebay. IMPORTANT! *You order, use and hook up this battery at your own risk. *If you do not have the knowledge to verify that this is the battery you need and don’t know how to make this battery work with your Kilburn, do not attempt to hook it up and use it with the unit. However, so far mine works great. (Been installed for nearly 2 weeks).

Scott, did you solved your issue? I just bought a refurbished kilburn from amazon, and came without battery… How did you solved it if you did??

Puxhurt, I bought the connector on your link, but the one that came was tiny- about one half the size of the receiving end in my Kilburn. I havent yet contacted the chinese supplier. Maybe they shipped the wrong part? Or did you post the wrong part? Thx for all the help! K
