My Xbox One S was recently plugged in during a lightning storm and got struck by lightning. This knocked out my T.V, Wifi, and most importantly, my Xbox One S. I called support but they said it’s not covered because “nature is not their fault.” So I’ve ordered a new one but I was wondering if I could open up the Xbox one S struck by lightning. If anyone has done this already or has found a guide somewhere would you please help me out.

  1. You should never tell a support technician that handles warranty that an act of nature damaged your electronics, you say something like “I have no idea what happened, it just wouldn’t turn on one day”.
  2. Yes, you can ifixit have a guide for tearing down xb One S, however the damage may not be exclusive to the PSU, so replacing it may not work, but it’s defiantly worth a shot! Let me know how you get on.
