Hi all, I have an iPhone 6 that does not charge nor get recognized by iTunes when plugged in. At first I thought it was the battery issue and the charging port so I replaced both. After replacing the battery and the charging port, unit still did not charge or gett recognized by iTunes. I did a little research and found out about the Tristar IC Chip might be defective and need replacement. However, I’m not comfortable doing the repair myself as I’m not a welder, nor electrician, nor board repair technician, you name it. I’d like to find a decent, trustworthy technician that can help me replace the chip in SoCal area. I do hope this is the right place to ask. I can delete this if this is not the right place. Thanks in advance.

As for repair, look locally for a reputable shop that does micro-soldering repairs. Ideally, you want to find someone local but good workmanship trumps locality. There are many shops worldwide that do this so you shouldn’t have any problems finding them. Talk to them and ask how they do their work. If you can’t find one locally, then consider mail-in repair. There are several reputable micro-solderers patrolling this forum.
