Hi all, MacBook Pro took a tragic fall! Clutch cover popped off, busted the threading in the hinge screws,
Cables fraying by the second. I made a futile, messy attempt at tightening the screws that hold the hinge to the display assembly with some Threadlocker adhesive and cannot find any info about the ones necessary for replacement anywhere. Are they T6? T8? One of them definitely looks smaller than the other. Thanks to a lot of helpful answers on this forum, I figure that I need to replace the hinge with a new one that has the appropriate antenna cables so I can feed wires through the hinge again. Do I just need to replace the screws in the hinge in order to re-attach the display? What screws are they? Thank you for any info you can provide.
Ouch! You got the right idea that you’ll need to replace the Antenna & iSight cable assembly is needed (which has the hinge already mounted to it). But, if the lids screws aren’t holding into the lid case you’ll also need to replace the lid case too! So it might be wiser just to replace the whole display lid. The reason I’m aiming you that way is you need to take the display apart to also re-attach the iSight cable as well. This is becoming a much bigger task than I think you realized! Take a look at this teardown MacBook Pro Retina Display Teardown while its on the older 2015 15” model the displays construction hasn’t changed between them and yours. While it can be done its a bit tricky! Is the display OK? It looks like it has some staining. Here’s the guide you’ll need to follow to get the display fully out MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement When you order the part ask for the screws! Either the Antenna & iSight cable assembly or the full lid.
