Hi! I’m replacing my keyboard due to liquid spill. My new replacement keyboard has no adhesive/tape on the ribbon cable. I’m wondering if it is necessary to attach it to the backlight? Maybe I can use electrical tape or double-sided tape? I also wonder if I can attach the old backlight with tape? Would be really grateful for an answer!
IMHO that tape is used to pull the ribbon cable into the slot, then lock it down. It’s much easier to do that than trying to push it in. After the cable is in, the tape really serves no purpose.
You’ll need to use double sided tape where it was used before, don’t use electrical tape! You want to emulate what Apple did, don’t try to re-design things here.
