My MacBook Pro Retina 13’’ charger gone bad. One of my friend have an old magsafe 1 charger (85W). I also have a spare magsafe 2 cable. Since the magsafe 1 wire won’t fit the magsafe 2 slot, I was thinking to replace the old charger’s magsafe 1 cable with spare magsafe 2 cable. Will it work for my MacBook?

Sure it will, the only difference between the two is the connector. You could find adapters too if you prefer.

Here’s the adapter: MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter I wound’t try splicing the cable as you’ll make more of a mess than the adapter.
