Hello, I know by replacing the home button on the 7 Plus you will lose touch id and home button functionality but I have a customer who wants their cracked home button replaced. Would removing the U10 IC and putting it on the replacement button restore the touch id and home button functionality? Thanks
No, from what I remember, the Touch ID key appears to be in the button chip itself, cracked button means dead Touch ID for sure. Some say the button feature can be restored, but I’m not sure if it will work with Touch ID key mismatch.
Swapping over U10 will not transfer over touch id. If the button is not causing any issues i would leave it as is, or take to Apple. Cheers
