I would like to buy a 1TB ssd drive to replace said failing HD, after having the local apple store guys diagnose it as such … and am set to buy all parts including the solid state drive from IFIXIT, and do the work myself. This is the 13" late 2011 unibody Macbook-pro laptop. I own no tools yet, except for the mini-phillips for removing the back face of the laptop. So, my question is: Do I just buy the ssd part sans fixit kit, but add the spudger and torx wrench into the cart with it, or do I buy the SSD with fixit kit, and rely on it to include said spudger/torx parts?
Your model is known to have issues with the hard drive/IR cable. I recommend replacing with the 2012 13" model.
