I have an 18 year old microwave oven with a broken door handle. Manufacture of the door handle part has been discontinued - not available. Can anyone suggest a substitute for this part?

For $2, buy 2 button knobs and forget about those expensive handles. I replaced mine two years and and it works like a charm.
