I removed the defective charge port from my ipad air the other day. It appears some material from the charge port cable was left on the logic board. Can you confirm this from the below picture? How would I clean this up before soldering the new charge port? https://imgur.com/a/nXKTFs8

It’s hard to say as the picture isn’t clear enough. But typically, you will have some of the pads from the flex “stay” on the logic board. That’s because the flex melts pretty easily and the ground pads require more heat (higher thermal mass) so the net effect is that the pads lift from the flex and stay soldered to the board. Apply lots of flux, and reheat those pads with your iron. You should be able to gently scrape them off once the underlying pcb has reached the proper temperature. Don’t “scrub” as you don’t want to lift the pads from the pcb either.
