Hi everyone At the final steps of replacing my iphone x battery. The top pull tab adhesive broke off, so I’ve been using heat, 65% rubbing alcohol, a piece of thin plastic plus the spunger to remove the adhesive enough so I can remove the battery. However, when I was able to remove it, I realised I’d scratched a chunk of this ribbon (?) off. Not sure what it is so I’m struggling to google. How much have I messed this up? Note: the scratched section is top center, about 2cm down from the top. Note the ribbon slightly to the left is not ruptured.

Edit 2: ahhhh heck. Might be important for the front facing camera. Looks like it’s part of #36 on diagram here: https://eandt.theiet.org/content/article… Edit 3: Further research: I’ve scratched the front facing camera flex cable. Now trying to figure out if the black stuff is important or protective. Am thinking if it’s protective, might be able to get a piece of electrical tape to cover this, so there’s something between it and the battery. If it’s the important part, then I may need to order the whole module.

This is your Face ID camera or earpiece speaker cable. As it doesn’t look cut or that damaged I would cover it with electrical tape and put the battery in without the adhesive and test all of the functions of the camera and Face ID. If it works glue the battery in and close it up!
