Hello everyone! I’ve repaired these 4th Generation iPod touch’s by replacing the display before, and I consistently have the same problem with doing it. After I’m done with everything, the 3M adhesive strips simply DO NOT keep the glass down. The screen will always pull away and lift off after about 10 minutes. The glass parts are clean and free from hand oils and it just doesn’t stick. :( My next option is to epoxy the display on, but I don’t want to do that because if the iPod breaks again, I won’t be able to remove the display. Is there an even stronger option for adhesive strips? Anyone know? Thanks so much! :D
I have about 10 clothes pegs that I have holding the display on while the adhesive sets works a treat 4 me put a dab of glue in each corner that will give you the best hold… Leave the pegs holding the screen for an hour!
If something keeps popping up, always check something underneath it jaw been properly installed.
I put screen on and together then test for proper functioning. After all is good I power down and place screen face down on soft towel. Place another towel on top and place milk jug filled halfway with water and let sit for appx. An hour. You can leave on there for longer if you would like. Thanks. Josh. Note: if you are using something different for a weight.. Don’t choose something too heavy as it could cause further damage to your phone. P.s. the clothes pin idea works great as well just be careful not to scratch screen.. Possibly include shreds of paper towel between screen and each clothes pin.
I have found Bowler Tech adhesives to be much stronger than any other adhesive I have used. With that being said, the iPod Touch 4th gen can be difficult to get the screen flat if the frame is in any way damaged. Using something to add pressure to the screen and hold it down will help.
