So i follow the ifixit guide on how to replace the battery for my macbook prp 15” mid 2010 A1286 since the old went bad. I got from a local computer store a battery for my mac, installed it and turn it on, battery not installed under system report. Did some diging and the most common answer is to reset pram and smc which i did. Now under system report shows battery is installed but not charging. Did mor diging and samd answer, reset pram and smc. I did several times and no luck. Still shows battery is installed but not charging. Charger is working ok on another mac, my mac runs ok on plug no issues there. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Update: I reset smc and system report shows battery is installed. I reset smc again and now system report shows battery is not istalled. Some times shows condition as normal and some other times as replace now. Update 2: Did what @mayer said and made sure there is no debris on mage safe and mage safe pins do retract and return to default position, also got coconut and this is what is shows:

I did a few more smc resets and it keeps either saying battery not installed or installed but never charging. This one time I turn Mac on as normal just regular power button and wile booting mage safe light went to orange and battery indicator on top right hand bar was showing 1% battery but was only a few seconds then went back to green light on mage safe and battery indicator at the top right showing 0%. Wile right this I got again the battery indicator at top right conner showing calculating until full charge and and coconut was showing this:

First look in the mag-safe port and see if anything is in it (it is magnetic and can pick up small screws, staples or other blocks. Use a sponger or toothpick to gentle press the contact pins on the mag-safe to see if they are retracting and returning into place. Download and run Coconut Battery and post your results so we have a better idea of what is going on. https://coconut-flavour.com/coconutbatte… UPDATE If you have the old battery put it in and run Coconut Battery again and post your results.
