Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2017 touch bar) A1707. I replaced the original apple battery with a replacement battery that I purchased from Ifixit and it wasn’t charging. It booted and worked when plugged in but the battery wasn’t recognized. I did everything including SMC and nvram Reset to start the calibration process but it still didn’t charge or work when unplugged. Ifixit sent me a second replacement battery. I just replaced it and did all the same resets again. The new battery, once again, does not charge. I’m very frustrated because this is the second battery that doesn’t charge and I did not make any mistakes during the replacement process. Is there anything I can do to get this laptop to recognize the new battery? Please help, anyone! Dan, please!

During my first repair I also replaced the two fans, speakers and thermal paste and they all work wonderfully. Speakers blasting like new (literally), fan speeds down and silent, temps down more than 30 degrees. The only issue was the battery. The new battery has “A1820” written on it which, as far as I can tell, is the right battery for the laptop.

Good Morning! @themacto and @hellomacos Well, it does look like a bad battery, but I’m thinking the BMU cable is damaged or not fully seated Review Steps 11 & 12 in this guide MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2017 Battery Replacement

Sadly this cable is part of the battery assembly, you made need another battery ;-{
