I dropped my phone and smashed my screen a few weeks ago. Everything worked fine (speakers, touch in all areas, screen colors were fine, flashlight, home button, touch ID, everything), just the glass was broken. I replaced it using the guide on here, and everything works fine except for the home button. Touch ID works but: Pressing the home button does nothing (feels the same, satisfying “click”, but nothing happens)Occasionally while using an app, it will exit to the home screenWhile locked, the phone constantly wakes and sleeps I’ve already reopened the phone and double-checked my work, re-seated the connections, inspected the connections and ribbon cables for any obvious signs of damage… but can’t turn up what I might’ve done wrong. Considering the button still worked with the old parts, I’m thinking of trying to get the home button ribbon cable that goes along the back side of that screen and trying it on the new one, in case I might’ve damaged that?

There is a chance that the long home button extension cable may have gotten damaged when removed from the old screen. If you are planning to replace it make sure you buy the one with the metal plate together and not just the cable.
