I have an Element ELEFW504 television that was given to me because “I’m handy”. The symptoms upon receiving it was if you were trying to turn it on, it had to be unplugged and plugged in, pressing the power button numerous times to where it’ll finally come to life and from there have no problem. I replaced the board thinking that would be the fix but no. Upon talking to a tv repair person, they advised replacing the LED strips because the symptoms I had explained proved to be a short in one of the strips. So I replaced the strips and installed the replacement board and yet there is still no backlight. If I do the flashlight test I can see the menu when prompted and all other features but not even a flicker of a light from the backlight. What did I do wrong or what did I not do? Please help. nicolette bennett … typically, if a power board is supplying proper voltages to the main board and the led’s/led driver board the power supply is fine. (did you test this?) If you have no backlights with proper voltages from the power supply and there is no led driver board, it could very well be the leds gone out and can test with a backlight tool or supplying voltage directly to the strips to test. (does your unit have an led driver board?) https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChc… Being that you have an image on your screen, the tcon board can be ruled out. your input buttons…menu and power are functioning so there is logic from your main board….but a main board can be at fault and not tell the power board to kick into high voltage for the leds. Being that you replaced the power supply and the led’s can rule them out as well. So this leaves the main board or an led driver board if you have one. if you need more assistance, post back with some pictures of your boards and the back of the tv so we can view.
