Chosen Solution

I bought a replacement screen for MacBook Pro and installed it (using the guide on iFixIt). Everything worked fine for the first 4 days. The problem isn’t consistent. If the computer is off for a few minutes the screen will start with no issues. Overtime ( 3-5 minutes) it will develop horizontal lines, ghosting, and then freeze altogether. The screen display in the following videos is mirroring (for reference).

I have tried: iOS UpgradeTurned on in safe modeReset PRAMReset SMCFirst Aid on disk utilityApple Diagnostic from startup None have identified or rectified the problem. I’d love to identify if this is a problem with the screen that I bought (ebay) or a hardware problem caused during installation, or a software/hardware interface problem.

There is no settings or alternations within the OS to fix this as its a defective display assembly! You’ll need to return the display to the seller to get a replacement, hopefully its better. One of the risks buy online is dealing with jobbers (people you buy loose items and resell them) as you just don’t know the source is someone dumpster diving for rejects or patch working a few displays into one working unit (a common way things are done in China). Sorry ;-{
