I had replaced an old battery in my iPhone 6s. The phone powered back up fine, but now the home button does not work nor the Touch ID functionality. I had removed the screen and carefully removed the 3 flex cables connecting the screen to the back portion of the phone. Some people on other models have said that I may have shorted two gold prong/switches? There aren’t any on the iPhone 6s. I have reset all my settings, powered on and off the phone multiple times. I tried doing a hard reset, but the assistive touch button wouldn’t allow. Am I missing a step?
Since you didn’t remove the home button assembly and if you are sure the home button connector is seated properly and didn’t receive any pry damage around it the only thing left is the home button flex cable. You will need to rule this out by replacing your screen. They are not that expensive.
