Chosen Solution

Hey there, So I unfortunately cracked my screen, bought a new one and replaced it successfully. Except, the battery now doesn’t seem to be powering. As far as I can tell, the connector wasn’t damaged when plugging it back in. The status on the menu bar says ‘Battery Is Not Charging’ and I’m running off the adapter. Here’s the report from coconutbattery: http://i.imgur.com/fy3jb7H.png I’m not fully up to speed on what to look for here, but to me it seems all okay? Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

If coconut battery does see the battery, it probably is plugged in properly. But you can try to reseat it just to make sure. Also try an SMC reset. Then there is the possibility that you pried something off the board of the laptop or that of the battery board itself. Those battery boards are prissy. Finally, you could have caused a short from ESD discharge, but you should’ve felt it; or if you used a metal tool or your screwdriver touched something while battery or power were connected. That short would have damaged the battery circuitry or the main board circuitry. To determine the cause, I would start by reseating. Then an SMC reset. Then by overlaying a new battery over the old one and plugging it in and see if computer works off of it. If none of the above works, you probably have damage at main board level. I personally can’t see another way to go about it.
