Hey I got today my new battery from ifixit and replaced it, everything went well. I left the mac to charge (took about 2 hours to 100% as usual) and I started using it. I only have google chrome (5-6 tabs) and vlc open my ram is 4GB. It’s been 2 hours of use and it has reached already 50% is it normal? thanks!
Did you follow the IFIXIT sheet that came with the battery? There is a process which you need to follow. First allowing the battery to fully recharge over night (disregard the menu meter), then you need to discharge the system and then repeat the process at least twice to set SMC correctly. At this point you’ll need to reset SMC again before you do this. I would recommend getting CoconutBattery which is a free app that allows you to see the battery & charging status. That should fix things

Hi, I have a similar question. I just bought a replacement battery for a MacBook Air 11" 2011 and replaced it successfully. Then I reset the SMC, charged the battery overnight and discharged it the next day. The battery lasted only about two hours watching YouTube videos. Did I mess up the process or is it the battery? PS: I didnt get the IFIXIT sheet either. Thanks!
