Hi everyone, I have a MacBook Pro “Core 2 Duo” 2.53 15," Late 2008 (A). It has a damaged upper case - there is separation between the aluminum and the LCD. And the hinge on one side is loose so the top doesn’t lie flush with the lower case when closed. Someone gave me a broken MacBook Pro “Core i7” 2.2 15" 2011 (B) - the logic board is gone and the LCD is shot. Is it possible to take the upper case and hinges off B, remove its shot LCD and insert the LCD from A, then attach the upper case from B onto A? I know these are both old machines, and I’m not expecting much from them. But so far, apart for the adhesive and hinge issue on A, it’s functioning surprisingly well - also has all the ports I love and use frequently which Apple has dropped from new models. Any advice or help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Olaf
It’s not showing as compatible. But if you would post photos of the inside of both we may be able to spot if they actually are. Thanks for your response, Mayer. I made a mistake. The part I’m trying to replace is not the upper case, but the lid (?) - not sure what the proper term is. The aluminum case that is attached to the LCD. And also the hinges. So, to reiterate: I have 15" late 2008 Macbook Pro (A) and I want to replace the aluminum lid and hinges, taken from 15" Macbook Pro 2011, (B). Would that work? Thanks!
