How do you change the fuel filter on a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan?
Not a common thing to change. It is underneath the van on the passenger side top of the fuel tank (which is on the driver’s side of the van). The fuel tank must be dropped to access the fuel filter assembly. In order to do that remove the front strap since the fuel line goes behind it. Loosen the rear strap so that the tank drops and will clear the line. You should now see the filter assembly. Check also with your local Chrysler dealer. The 2001 Caravan had a recall issued for some aftermarket replacement fuel filters that could cause the fuel lines to leak and result in a possible fire. I would have them check it and see if there is any sign of damage to the fuel filter or if it leaks. leakage in the fuel lines, the filter should be replaced. Check on here for the recall. Good Luck with this task.
Spread this around. The fuel filter in the2006 grand caravan is a sock inside!, the fuel tank. A lot of people are asking about this. I know first hand because I have one..
Well I was told by a guy at Auto zone that the fuel filter on a 05 caravan is part of the pump so you have to replace the whole thing
You need a ¼ “ vinyl clear hose with a cut 30 degrees to go through the filling house in the tank to evacuate gas from the tank. You need a fuel tank jack to lower and reinstall the fuel tank. You can make a wooden fuel tank cradle for less than 10 dollars, and installing it at 1” hole under the jack cup.
The fuel FILTER on a 2007 Caravan is built into the Fitting that comes out of the TOP of the Fuel Pump ASSEMBLY. It is NOT removable. You MUST change the whole ASSEMBLY. This CLOGS and causes the Overload clipped to the top of the pump to blow. The pump is actually still good, but I know of no way to get a new OVERLOAD to clip to it. If you change only the pump on the fuel pump ASSEMBLY, no fuel will flow out the Top of the Assembly because the Internal Filter is Clogged. Buy the whole ASSEMBLY and save yourself some aggravation….
